Villa 5: Wirra Wirra | Church Block
Wirra Wirra Vineyards is one of McLaren Vale’s most renowned wineries. From its inception in 1894 by Robert Strangways Wigley, the winery produced many fine wines. After Robert’s death in 1926, the winery deteriorated and was abandoned. The late Greg Trott rebuilt the winery in 1969.
Church Block
Greg Trott’s first wine under the Wirra Wirra was Church Block in 1972. The name is from the first vineyards, next to the small Bethany Church (1854) across the road from Wirra Wirra’s century old ironstone cellars. For more than 40 years the Church Block is firmly entrenched as an Aussie icon.
The world’s largest cork sculpture – a 10M tall bottle of Church Block was created for 10 years of production.

Villa 6: d’Arenberg | The Laughing Magpie
d’Arenberg needs little description, as they are one of the most acclaimed wineries in Australia. With one of the world’s most recognisable cellar doors, the Cube is intruiging and amazing.
Wine is a puzzle is the core of this winery. The multi-sensoral experiences on offer give you some idea as to the complexities involved in creation of wine.

From some of the oldest vines in the region (with 3 generations of vignerons born in McLaren Vale), Maxwell Wines have developed a fine vineyard with an excellent range of wines.
With an awarded restaurant, Maxwell’s cellar door with picnic ground and maze make this winery a unique and fabulous destination.

Villa 3: Coriole | The Dancing Fig
Coriole Vineyards were started by the Lloyd family in the 1960’s. Their exceptional wines include traditional varieties, but they have pursued finding new, exciting varieties, like the Sangiovese vineyard 1985, the Fiano vineyard 2001 and the Piquepoul vineyard 2010. These varieties were pioneered in Australia by Coriole.

Villa 4 Hardy’s | Tintara
Hardy’s is a multi-award winning winery, firmly settled in the very heart of McLaren Vale. One of Australia’s most respected wine families, Hardy’s has a long and illustrious history steeped in South Australian lore.
In 1876, Thomas Hardy purchased an old flour mill situated on Main Street, McLaren Vale to expand his flourishing wine business, established in 1853.
Hardys Tintara is the home of Hardy’s and was founded in 1861.
